The Church Council has signed an agreement with Dow Smith Contracting Company to put together a Master Plan for us.  The Master Plan will give us vision on how best to use the property we have for future building and parking- short term and long term.  After two days of meetings and consultation with Dow Smith, we will have a Master Plan.  Shortly thereafter we will call a meeting of the congregation to present the Master Plan and any recommendations for which direction we would like to go.

Congregation President Bill Smith has accepted a new position will a firm near State College, PA.  Because of the new job and move Bill will be stepping down as President.  We certainly thank Bill for his service to the Lord and our congregation in various capacities over the past 7 years.  We ask for God’s blessing on the Smith’s transition to Pennsylvania.

Finally,  thank you very much for the generous gift that was given to me after church on Sunday, August 29 for my 20th anniversary in the ministry.  Thank you also to those who shared their favorite Bible passage with me earlier in the summer and the other cards and gifts given then as well.  It is all very much appreciated.  Thank you very much for a being a part of Abiding Faith.  I look forward to serving you in the future and to partnering with you in proclaiming God’s Good Word to the world!

Pastor Werth

By growing in faith through study of the inerrant Word of God, we will be enabled to tell the lost of God's saving grace. The peace we speak of is peace with God through Jesus Christ, our Savior. We know it, we love it, and we share it.

Because his tomb is empty our hope is not.

Scientists say that the February, 2010 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Chile changed the earth's axis and shortened an earth day. Still, the massive power of the earthquake could change the world only by some 3 inches and 1.26 microseconds.

Another earthquake 2,000 years ago changed the world far more completely-- and forever. St. Matthew reports: "There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going into the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it.... The angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen.'"

Far more than just moving the axis of the earth a couple of inches, the resurrection of Jesus Christ altered the world's future and everyon in it. It has opened the gates of heaven itself. It has lengthened our little span of time spent on earth to an eternity of life forever with God.

In short, because his tomb is empty, our hope is not. We have a savior who lives to guide us, to supportus, and finally to bring us safely to his side above. Come, worship with us this Easter season--and have your hope renewed.
